What is Crazy Quilters?

We are two Vermonters who have spent one too many winters watching the snow bury our cars, houses, pets and children. Three years ago, we started quilting backpacks and quilts for friends and family as a way to help us get through those long winters. We started with one type of backpack and then expanded our repertoire to include larger backpacks, backpack purses, tote bags, toys for the kids, memory quilts, jackets and so on. What makes our gifts so unique is the fact that they are hand made and individually tailored towards each person. There is nothing more exciting or special than to receive a gift that was made with only you in mind. We have watched children carry our beanie houses and backpacks around everywhere (and then sleep with them next to their pillows). We have seen the joy on faces of individuals who receive a memory quilt with their pictures quilted into them. We love what we do and want to make sure that this shows in the final product.

We do not have a shopping cart on our website because we want to work closely with you to make a product that is exactly what you want. We can make what you see on our website or you can design your own. If you need extra pockets for your backpack, then we can add them. If you want a quilt but aren’t sure what it should look like, we can work with you to design your own quilt. If you haven’t been able to find that special item that is exactly what you want, ask us and we can probably make it!

We can also modify or create gifts for individuals or children who have special needs. We can make our items with larger pieces, straps that will fit wheelchairs, or enhanced colors to make them more visible.
